Getting There

Nantucket is an island about 30 miles off the coast of Cape Cod and you must get there by air or sea. We recommend booking your travel as early as possible. Also, when thinking of when you want to be on island, keep in mind FOG HAPPENS!

By Air

Flying is probably the easiest way to get to Nantucket and is not always the most expensive, so make sure to check your options. The flight schedules are seasonal, but in September, there will be direct flights from New York, White Plains, Boston, Providence, and Hyannis. Many flight options open up during the spring and non-Friday-Sunday trips are often discounted, so keep a look out for newly-released inventory.
From outside NYC and Boston: We recommend entering ACK as your destination, as you can often get a much less expensive flight all in than trying to travel to Boston or NYC then piecing the rest of the trip together yourself.

There are two ferry companies serving Nantucket – Hyline and the Steamship Authority. Each run high speed passenger-only ferries from Hyannis to Nantucket with roundtrip ticket costing around $65-80. The Steamship also offers a car ferry (2 hours 15 minutes) if you wish to bring your own car to the island, BOOK WELL IN ADVANCE (~$400 roundtrip for a car; reservations open Jan. 1st). Parking at the mainland dock can be reserved and prepaid at the time of ticket purchase or purchased day of at one of the lots surrounding the docks (Parking fees are around $20/calendar day).

****Note on Ferry tickets: If you’re traveling with a group of 5 or more, or can merge with a few other guest groups, it will save you about 20% per ticket if you buy a commuter book of 10 one-way tickets in bulk.

***Bikes, which are a lovely way to get around the island, can be taken on the ferry for a nominal additional fee.

Getting Around The Island

Although Nantucket is not a huge place and is very bike-friendly, there will be times that you may want to drive. If you are not bringing your car or do not wish to rent one, the taxis are fairly reliable and each ride tends to be $15-25, regardless of time, distance, or any other dimension. Additionally, the local bus system, The WAVE, tends to have helpful routes and is very reasonable ($2 per ride). More information about The WAVE

Our recommended cab companies and their contact info:

  • Val’s Cab: 508-228-9410
  • Bev’s Taxi: 508-228-7874
  • Milestone Taxi: 508-325-5511
  • A-1 Taxi: 508-228-3330

There are some Uber drivers on island, and may be more prevalent at the time of the wedding, but we recommend keeping above cab information handy.

For car and moped rentals, we recommend calling Tim at Affordable Rentals (http://www.affrentals.com/): (508) 228-3501.

Where To Stay

September is wedding month on Nantucket! Book your accommodations as early as possible! There are a few wonderful hotels and many great B&Bs on island. Check out the information on most of them below. If you have any questions, please contact us. We can help!

The best value, and we would argue the most fun option, is to rent a house. We recommend searching on VRBO, AirBNB, or contacting our friends at Fisher Real Estate. Tom Nevers is the area of the island where we will be staying and where the wedding will be. Town is where most of the restaurants, hotels and B&Bs are located.

Additional Details

Children are welcome to attend all the events leading up to the big day, but we would like to keep the wedding an adults only affair.  We know great babysitters, which we’re happy to recommend. Please reach out to us for this information.

Please reach out to us and we’ll do our best to work with our caterers for various events to accommodate you.

Nantucket casual chic.

But seriously, cocktail attire. Ladies, for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception you will be walking on grass (and sand if you’d like to take photos on the beach), so keep in mind when selecting footwear. The island is casual and so are all of the other events.

Check back here for the latest information as it becomes available.
